Leonie Green (Professor/Doctor): Leonie maintained the highest grade point average of the four of us earning the right to be our 1978 Class Valedictorian. Usually soft-spoken, kind, witty, excited and anxious to talk about Ænon's contribution to her life Leonie lead the way for academic excellence in the school. Leonie loves the word of God and very much enjoys teaching it to anyone willing to listen. Thanks Leonie for a job well done.
James Greer (Elder): The master-teacher among us -- James is slow talk'n, methodical and highly approachable. He is the one who loves to contend for the faith once delivered unto the saints. James was the "smiling Bible student" who had the unique ability to argue his point and still keep on smiling. If it is wise council you need then James Greer is your man. His gentle disposition and teaching coupled with that wide-eyed smile made him of great value to the body of Christ. He became Ænon West Coast's 3rd Student Body President and was also the narrator of the famous, "This Is Ænon" slide-sound presentation, the first presentation of its kind in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. That highly acclaimed, powerful, Ænon West Coast presentation was viewed by over 1300 saints from coast to coast. It evoked laughter, seriousness, enthusiasm, and tears. And, if all this isn't enough, in 1978 while Student Body President, James Greer and his capable staff produced Ænon West Coast's first Yearbook entitled, "One Man's Dream, A Nation's Reality." This publication set the standard high for subsequent works. Its ability to capture the history of the school in pictures and text made it of historic valuable. Congratulations to Elder Greer for a job well done in this very fine achievement. Thanks James.
David Rhodes (Elder): The 1st Student Body President of Ænon West Coast and the first to hold that office three consecutive years -- declining to run for a fourth term. He was the Director of the P.A. of W.'s first slide-sound documentary presentation, "This Is Ænon," completed in 1977. Narrated by James Greer it rocked the house wherever it was presented. "This Is Ænon" provoked overt tears, laughter and inspiration in over 1300 saints during its viewing history. It kindled a mighty spark of excitement in all who saw it. On another note, thanks and appreciation goes out to the following persons for their contributions:
- Much appreciation and gratitude goes to Mother Beatrice Waters for her faithful funding of David's entire six-year education at Ænon, including tuition and books.
- There were two excellent Student Body Vice Presidents working with Elder David Rhodes during his tenure of office, Elder Bruce Riley and Elder Clifton Edwards. They were instrumental in the setting up numerous programs such as a newsletter and a variety of exciting student body functions. Both are powerful men of God. And much thanks to Elder Milton Catada for his hard work in helping to establish Ænon West Coast's first news letter.
- Sister Roxanne Leffall-Martin (now of Fresno County, California) is credited with our great success, enthusiasm and excitement in wearing of the blue and gold blazer jackets with our new Ænon West Coast emblem attached.
- Elder Charles Tolbert and Elder Howard Swancy worked out the details for our first successful Student Body Retreat held in the Idlewild Mountains near Banning, California. The late Bishop Wayne Davis along with Doctor Wanda Davis supplied the powerful music ministry at that retreat. Our keynote speakers included such notables as District Elder Ralph Lewis, Bishop Charles C. Queen, Deacon Benny Newton, Sr. and Elder Senyur Jackson.
A special thanks to all for a job well done.
Howard Swancy (Suffragan Bishop): Known as "Big Bucks," or just "Bucks" for short. Howard was the man with the big heart and a genuine love for God and God's people. Often serious, dogmatic, and forceful, he was for no foolishness regarding souls and salvation. He was the competitor among us. Howard loved sports -- football and basketball in particular. The Cadillac driving, CBS Television air-time salesman who lived on the hill overlooking the city captured the hearts of all of us. We often sat up until 3:00 A.M. talking about the Lord over coffee at Denny's or Bob's Big Boy restaurants -- Greer, Green, Sylvester-Jackson, Swancy, and Rhodes. He served as master of ceremonies at the first Ænon West Coast Retreat -- an event to be remember. Howard held the office of Ænon West Coast's 2nd Student Body President. Thanks Howard for a job well done.
